Data Deletion Policy

Last updated: 24 March 2026

Your right to erasure: Under GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the absolute right to request deletion of your personal data. We process all deletion requests within 30 days.

1. Your Right to Erasure

Under Article 17 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR, you have the right to request the deletion ("erasure") of your personal data. This is sometimes called the "right to be forgotten."

Famello is committed to honouring all valid erasure requests promptly and completely.

2. What Data Will Be Deleted

Upon a verified deletion request, we will permanently delete:

  • Your account profile (name, email, password)
  • All family group data associated with your account
  • All tasks, messages, and calendar events you created
  • All child profiles you created and associated data
  • Your device tokens and notification preferences
  • Your subscription records (excluding financial transaction records required by law)

3. Data We May Retain

In some cases, we are legally required to retain certain data even after a deletion request:

  • Financial records: Transaction and billing records may be retained for up to 7 years as required by tax law
  • Legal obligations: Data required to comply with a court order or legal process
  • Fraud prevention: Anonymised records used to prevent fraudulent account creation (no personal identifiers retained)

We will inform you of any data that cannot be deleted and the legal basis for retention.

4. Timeframe

We will process your deletion request and confirm completion within 30 days of receipt. In complex cases, we may extend this period by a further 60 days, in which case we will notify you within the initial 30-day period.

5. How to Request Deletion

You can request data deletion through any of the following methods:

  • In-app: Settings > Account > Delete Account
  • Email: privacy@famello.com with subject line "Data Deletion Request"
  • Form: Use the request form below

To verify your identity, we will ask you to confirm the email address associated with your account. This is to protect your data from unauthorised deletion requests.

6. Family Accounts & Children's Data

If you are a parent requesting deletion of your family account, this will also delete all child profiles and associated data. If you wish to delete only a child's profile, you can do so within the app via Family Settings.

In line with COPPA requirements, parents can request deletion of their child's data at any time, even without deleting the parent account.

7. Complaints

If you are unsatisfied with how we handled your deletion request, you have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
